Butler Community College held a pinning ceremony for its Spring 2024 nursing graduates on May 9, 2024, at the El Dorado Performing Arts Center. Sixty-one nursing students, a newborn, and a service dog were present, along with their families and friends. The ceremony celebrated the students' completion of their demanding academic and practical nursing training.

Bethany Middendorf, the Class President, spoke to the attendees about their shared experiences and the core values of nursing. She thanked the faculty, peers, and family members for their support during their education. Middendorf stated that nursing is not just a job, but a commitment to care for and heal others.

The event also acknowledged eight students who completed the Butler/KU ADN & BSN Partnership. This program allows students to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The University of Kansas and an Associate Degree in Nursing from Butler Community College simultaneously. Faculty member and DAISY nominee Mitchell Taylor highlighted the benefits of this dual degree program.

Janet Schueller, the Associate Dean of Health, Education, and Public Services, gave the closing remarks. She encouraged the graduates to wear their nursing pins proudly and to uphold their commitment to serving others, especially during tough times. She linked the nursing pin to their future roles as healthcare providers, noting the courage and honor the profession requires.
