Hello Petaluma, welcome to our community newsletter for May 24, 2024.

Thank you to all who attended the Cool Petaluma Expo at the Fairgrounds this week. It was great to see the community engage in discussions about sustainability while enjoying the event.

This week, we also observe National Public Works Week. We appreciate our Public Works & Utilities (PW&U) team, who manage our city’s infrastructure, including water systems and public parks. Their recent projects, such as the enhancements to First Street, 101 Crossings, and Caulfield Bridge, demonstrate their hard work and dedication.

Regarding infrastructure, the city plans to replace and upgrade the water and sewer pipes on First Street between F and H Streets, and on G Street between First and Second Streets. The new plastic pipes will be more durable and require less maintenance. Please expect some traffic delays during these improvements, and we thank you for your patience.

We are also focusing on enhancing accessibility for pedestrians and cyclists. A community meeting is scheduled for May 29, from 6pm to 8pm at the Council Chambers at City Hall. The meeting will discuss potential new routes for walking, biking, and rolling across town. Your participation and feedback are crucial for developing safer and more convenient travel options in Petaluma.
