Georgia ranks high for solar power in the South
Georgia utilities earned high marks this year in an annual report on the state of solar power in the South. In its "Solar in the Southeast" report, the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy notes that Georgia Power ranks fourth out of 14 major regional electricity providers in a key measure: watts of solar electricity produced per customer, or W/C.

Smartphone Photography exhibit opens at Kalmanson Gallery
The Kalmanson Gallery of Emanuel Arts Council will feature artwork by thirteen students in Group 1080 of East Georgia State College. This unique art show will feature Smartphone Photography. Opening reception for the show will be July 18th, from 5 to 7 p.m. and is free and open to the public. The exhibition is on display now through August.
Rustin retires after 25 years at Southeastern Technical College
Director for Economic Development and Continuing Education Susan Rustin retired after twenty-five years of dedicated service to Southeastern Technical College (STC). While a student at Southeastern Technical College, receiving a Business Office Technology Diploma, Rustin began working for Southeastern Tech as a continuing education business and industry specialist. She assisted in coordinating classes, conferencing, and catering, served work-ready programs, coordinated leadership programs, hired instructors, and administrated proctored exams for industry certifications.

The Police Department Scavenger Hunt began June 3, at 4:30 p.m. In addition to the winners that ran in the paper on June 18 and 25, Josie Radford found rock#18 at McRae Vet Clinic, Tinsley Sherrod found rock#16 at Southeastern Tech and Briar Jones found rock #17 at the old Coke Plant, Everleigh Lovehall found rock #20 at Red’s Quick Lube & Tire, Ellie Rountree found rock #19 at the Animal Shelter, Jackson Drew found rock #21 at Luck Gambrell Park and Charlie McNeely found rock #22 at Church Street Manor. The last two rocks, #23 and 24, have been hidden but not found as of press time.
