Airway Heights resident targeted in jury duty scam

AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Wash. — An Airway Heights resident received a phone call demanding money to pay a fine, according to Airway Height Police Department (AHPD).

AHPD said the caller claimed an arrest warrant was issued for failing to appear for jury duty. And the only way to resolve the warrant was to pay a fine.

"We want to remind the community that they will never call and threaten arrest for missing jury duty service, said APHD. "In addition, government employees will never request someone to purchase gift cards to pay for any legitimate fine."

Anyone who receives a phone call is urged to hang up and contact Crime Check at 509-456-2233.
