Soul food, a favorite from the South, is loved by many Floridians who used to live up North. Florida is home to popular soul food places like Seth's and Happy Soul. Unfortunately, another favorite, Angel's Soul Food in Sanford, has been closed after a state inspection.

This restaurant is famous for classic soul food dishes like fried chicken, smothered pork chops, and fried catfish.

Customers who went to Angel's on South Sanford Avenue gave it a rating of 4.4 out of 5 stars on Google. People often praised the fried chicken and cornbread.

    What Happened During the Inspection?

The Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation reported that the inspection on July 26, 2024, uncovered 17 violations.

Some basic issues included food and debris on a cooler door handle, missing a mop sink, and standing water.

Intermediate problems were no paper towels at the handwash sink and a cooler with a "mold-like substance or slime."

High-priority issues included raw chicken stored above raw fish and raw sewage on the restaurant floor.

Because of these problems, the restaurant was temporarily closed. A follow-up inspection on July 27, 2024, found six remaining violations. None were an immediate threat to the public, so the restaurant was allowed to reopen.
