In the ever-evolving landscape of Florida’s retail scene, Publix is updating its footprint once again. The long-standing Publix at 6900 Daniels Parkway, located in the Daniels Crossing shopping plaza in Fort Myers, has recently begun its transition from an old favorite to a new, modern format.

This Publix, a staple for the community for over 30 years, closed its doors in early July 2024 to make way for a new, updated store. Known for its high ratings, the store boasted a 4.6 out of 5 stars on Google, with patrons praising its cleanliness, well-stocked shelves, and friendly staff.

    What’s New?

The new Publix will introduce a fresh concept to Fort Myers shoppers. According to Lindsey Willis, Publix’s media relations manager, the redesigned store will feature an upstairs seating area where customers can relax and enjoy their lunch—though it will not include a full-service restaurant. This new format aims to enhance the shopping experience, offering a space for customers to unwind.

As demolition progresses through mid-August 2024, the current Publix, which spans 48,890 square feet, will be replaced by a slightly smaller, 48,387-square-foot store. Additionally, a new 3,010-square-foot Publix Liquors store will be part of the redevelopment. The anticipated grand reopening is set for June 2025.

    A Revamped Plaza

The Daniels Crossing shopping plaza will continue to serve shoppers with other retailers, including Duck Donuts, Quest Subway, and The UPS Store, ensuring that locals still have access to their favorite stores during the transition.

With this upgrade, Publix is not just refreshing a well-loved location but also aiming to enhance the overall shopping experience for its Fort Myers customers. Stay tuned for more updates as the new store takes shape and prepares to welcome back its loyal patrons.
