Dog Sisters Find Forever Home Together Thanks to Loving Couple

Sometimes, a visit to the shelter can lead to the most heartwarming stories. That’s exactly what happened when Sonia Ferreras and Ramon Tejada went to the Mississippi Animal Rescue League to adopt a puppy and ended up giving two sweet sisters a new home.

The couple originally planned to adopt just one dog, but when they met Prissy and Piper, their hearts melted. As the Mississippi Animal Rescue League shared on Facebook, Sonia instantly fell in love with the pair, and she and Ramon didn’t hesitate to adopt both puppies.

Why the rush to adopt both? Prissy and Piper are Australian shepherds who are inseparable. Prissy, who has a vision impairment, relies on her sister Piper for support. She can only see shadows and depends on Piper to navigate their world. The shelter made it clear that these two needed to stay together, and Sonia and Ramon were more than happy to make that happen.

Prissy and Piper had been at the shelter since mid-July after being surrendered. Despite a lot of interest in adopting one or the other, potential adopters were hesitant, especially with Prissy’s vision challenges. But Sonia and Ramon’s visit changed everything. They couldn’t imagine separating the bonded sisters and adopted them both.

Now, the 10- to 11-week-old pups are enjoying life in their new home with a fenced-in yard. The shelter is over the moon with the outcome, and it sounds like Prissy and Piper are thriving in their new environment. According to Debra Boswell from the shelter, their new owner reports that the puppies are doing great and that Prissy is always close to Piper, using her sister as her eyes and safety zone.
