If you’ve never set foot in a Buc-ee’s or seen one in action, you might wonder why a gas station is creating such a buzz, even drawing Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to hold a press conference. But Buc-ee’s isn’t your average pit stop. Known for its massive size, unique food offerings, and sparkling clean bathrooms, it’s easy to see why people are excited about the possibility of another one coming to Florida. And now, the St. Lucie County location just cleared a big hurdle toward making that a reality.

    So, What’s the Latest?

Back in early 2024, rumors started swirling after a pre-application meeting for what was called a “travel center/fueling station” in St. Lucie County. That got everyone speculating: Could Buc-ee’s be heading to Fort Pierce? Shortly after, Commissioner Cathy Townsend confirmed the rumors – yes, Buc-ee’s was preparing to submit a site plan.

Now, the big news is that Buc-ee’s has secured permission to change the county’s sign regulations, which means they can build a towering 100-foot sign. This was one of the last steps needed to kick off construction for the massive new location at Indrio Road and I-95.

According to Buc-ee’s Director of Real Estate and Development, Stan Beard, this vote clears the path to move forward with the approvals necessary to get the project started. When it’s all done, this Buc-ee’s will be an 80,000-square-foot travel center, featuring a whopping 120 fuel pumps and 720 parking spots. It’s going to be huge!

Why Are Floridians So Obsessed with Buc-ee’s?

If you’ve never been, let me tell you – Buc-ee’s is not your average gas station. It’s practically a superstore. People love it for the vast selection of food, clean bathrooms, and overall experience. You’ll find everything from their famous sweet corn nuggets (also known as Beaver Nuggets) to fudge, jerky, and even BBQ brisket sandwiches. It’s gas station food, but way better than you’re used to. In fact, Buc-ee’s in Daytona Beach gets a solid 4 out of 5 stars on TripAdvisor.

Florida already has two Buc-ee’s locations – one in Daytona Beach and the other in St. Augustine – and soon there could be two more. Along with the St. Lucie County store, there’s another planned in Ocala.

So, if you’re a Buc-ee’s fan or you’re just curious about what all the hype is about, keep an eye on St. Lucie County. It looks like Florida’s love affair with Buc-ee’s is about to get even bigger.

Destalin was so excited about it. There was so much opposition, but he pushed it through anyway. It wasn't necessary, and more wet lands were destroyed. But I'm sure Destalin gained financially.
