After 35 years of serving up food, drinks, and waterfront views, Shuckers Waterfront Bar & Grill in North Bay Village is closing its doors for good. The beloved Miami spot, which has been a staple on 79th St. Causeway since 1989, will officially shutter on Sunday, October 27.

The casual bar and grill, located next to the Best Western on the Bay Inn & Marina, is set to make way for a new project called the Palm Tree Club. This new development will transform the area into an experiential restaurant and resort, complete with a coastal restaurant, 20-boat slip marina, 118 guest suites, and a pool.

Bruce Siegel, Shuckers' VP of Operations, expressed the team's sadness over the closure, saying, "We are devastated to have to close the doors... So many locals have created incredible memories here over the decades." He also encouraged longtime customers to stop by one last time before they close, as the restaurant will still be serving happy hour, lunch, and dinner up until the final day.

Shuckers’ owners have plans to reopen at a new location and will provide more details soon.

The site was purchased in June by Continuum Co., a New York-based real estate firm, for $75 million. They’ve partnered with Miami-based entertainment company Palm Tree Crew to launch the Palm Tree Club, a resort and restaurant designed with coastal vibes and festival-like experiences. Palm Tree Crew, co-founded by Myles Shear, will lead the programming and creative direction of the project. Highgate, a hotel management company, will handle operations after the redevelopment.

So, for fans of Shuckers, there’s still time to enjoy a meal by the water before this iconic spot says goodbye.
