Shakopee man charged in drive-by shooting that injured elder outside Minneapolis mosque
A man has been charged in the shooting of an elder outside a north Minneapolis mosque, an incident which left the Muslim community “shaken.”. The shooting occurred at about 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 19 as people were leaving Masjid An-Nur after the third prayer of the day. The man who was shot, a 75-year-old respected elder in the community, remains hospitalized.

New Solid Waste Collection Franchise Agreement – Sweetman Sanitation
On August 20, 2024, the Redwood Falls City Council approved a new Solid Waste Collection Franchise Agreement with Sweetman Sanitation (Ordinance No. 93, Fourth Series). Sweetman Sanitation will service all residential units in Redwood Falls as of October 1. Recycling services (yellow can) will continue to be serviced by West Central Sanitation through Redwood County. Commercial accounts can continue to use any of the approved licensed providers. Your current garbage/recycling pickup day (Tuesday/Thursday) will NOT be changing.
Beloved Maple Grove Police K-9, Calo, Laid To Rest
A beloved former Maple Grove police K-9 was laid to rest this weekend. Calo, who police describe as an energetic German Shepherd, retired from the force in 2023. According to a social media post from the Maple Grove police Sgt. Keith Stuart made the decision to put down Calo on August 23. Maple Grove Police Chief Eric Werner said the dog’s health was continuing to decline.

Victim of SUV-Pedestrian Crash on Minnesota Highway Identified
Blaine, MN (KROC-AM News) - Authorities have released the name of a pedestrian who was struck and killed by a vehicle in the Twin Cities on Saturday. The Anoka County Sheriff's Office says 27-year-old Randy Bjurstrom was struck by an SUV as he was attempting to cross a busy four lane roadway in Blaine.
