Hundreds of thousands of Ohioans lost power Tuesday evening when tornados and damaging rain came through the area leaving behind downed power lines, trees and utility poles in its path of destruction.

Most communities have since had their power restored, but there are still tens of thousands of Cuyahoga County residents who are without power, according to FirstEnergy's outage tracker. Out of the 258,954 Ohio residents who are without power as of 1 p.m. Thursday, 171,989 reside in Cuyahoga County.

These residents may go the rest of the week without power, with FirstEnergy estimating Thursday that power will be restored by Aug. 14, over a week after the initial storm.

This means over 55,000 Cleveland residents may not be able to turn the lights on or refrigerate their food until the middle of next week. Same for the 20,263 Lakewood residents, 17,714 Parma residents, 9,481 Westlake residents and 7,198 Euclid residents who may have thought they wouldn't have power for a few hours, at most.

Lake (40,683), Geauga (20,955) and Lorain (12,785) counties are also counties whose residents are still affected by Tuesday's debilitating storm.

Only 515 Summit County residents and 1,584 Portage County residents are still without power. The majority of Summit County residents without power live in Barberton (118) and Cuyahoga Falls (117).

FirstEnergy estimates power will be restored by 11 p.m. Saturday for residents of those wo counties.

EF1 tornados confirmed in Summit and Cuyahoga counties

The National Weather Service confirmed Thursday that an EF1 tornado with peak winds of 104 mph affected the Richfield and Boston Heights area on Tuesday. It traveled 3.32 miles from over a duration of five minutes and was 105 yards wide.

Two other Tuesday tornados were confirmed Wednesday by NWS . One landed in Avon Lake in Cuyahoga County and traveled 8.42 miles to Lorain. It reached a peak speed of 110 mph and was 200 yards wide. It traveled from 3:45 p.m. to to 3:56 p.m. The other landed in Brook Park, also in Cuyahoga County, and traveled 17 miles to Bedford. It reached a peak speed of 104 mph and was 350 yards wide. It traveled from 3:59 p.m. to 4:22 p.m. Both were categorized as EF1s.
