    Ohio high school football 2024 | Top 10 Akron-area quarterbacks to watch

    As we prepare for the start of the 2024 Ohio high school football season, we're breaking down the top players by position. Throughout the preseason, we're ranking the top 10 Greater Akron quarterbacks, running backs, receivers/tight ends, offensive linemen, defensive linemen, linebackers, defensive backs, specialists and two-way players.

    Today, we look at the top 10 quarterbacks, starting with Walsh Jesuit’s Keller Moten , who led the Warriors to a regional  final last season and was named to the Division II all-state team.

    Keller Moten

    Walsh Jesuit, 5-foot-11, 185 pounds, Class of 2025

    Moten was a Division II third-team All-Ohio selection as a junior and is an incredible dual-threat quarterback. He was 131-of-217 passing for 1,913 yards and 20 touchdowns last season. He also rushed for 754 yards and 13 touchdowns, which is impressive because he sat out the fourth quarter of seven games when the outcome was already well decided.

    Gabriel Mansel

    Copley, 6-1, 190 pounds, Class of 2025

    Mansel certainly made a name for himself last season as a transfer from St. Vincent-St. Mary. The senior threw for 1,431 yards and 14 touchdowns and rushed for 1,003 yards and 10 touchdowns in seven games.

    Ben Chesser

    Nordonia, 6-1, 195 pounds, Class of 2025

    Chesser was an honorable mention Suburban League National Conference selection last season after throwing for 1,836 yards and 18 touchdowns. He also rushed for 327 yards and four scores.

    Joey Pollock

    Twinsburg, 6-0, 210 pounds, Class of 2025

    Pollock was a big reason for the highly successful 2023 season. The senior was a Division II second-team All-Ohio selection after he completed 221 of 311 passes for 2,434 yards with 19 touchdowns and rushed for 242 yards and eight scores.

    Ethan Roksandich

    Hoban, 6-2, 220 pounds, Class of 2025

    Roksandich comes to the Knights from Brunswick and certainly looks the part of quarterback. He threw for 960 yards and nine touchdowns and rushed for 645 yards and nine more scores. He takes over for Tylan Boykin.

    Ryan Stoops

    Wadsworth, 5-10, 170 pounds, Class of 2026

    Stoops takes over for Division I second-team All-Ohio selection Will Stack. He had an unbelievable junior varsity season last year, throwing for 2,538 yards and 30 yards, and is one of the stars of a junior class that has the Grizzlies expecting big things.

    Stevie Diamond

    Buchtel, 6-3, 190 pounds, Class of 2025

    Diamond returns to the Griffins as a three-star quarterback with an offer from Marshall. He guided the City Series co-champions with 1,249 yards and nine touchdowns passing. He also rushed for 280 yards and five scores.

    Ryan Loveless

    Tallmadge, 6-3, 185 pounds, Class of 2026

    Loveless returns as quarterback for the Blue Devils. In two seasons, he is 117-of-243 passing for 1,301 yards and nine touchdowns. Loveless has also rushed for two scores. He averages 11.2 yards per completion.

    Charley Levak

    Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy, 5-11, 170 pounds, Class of 2026

    Levak is a two-time first-team All-Principals Athletic Conference selection. He threw for 698 yards and rushed for 433 yards for the eight-win Royals last season. He amassed 17 total touchdowns and threw for 13.4 yards per completion.

    Nathan Judy

    Hudson, 6-4, 215 pounds, Class of 2026

    Judy comes in with a wealth of experience on the varsity level even though it wasn’t at quarterback. He caught 17 passes for 278 yards and scored two touchdowns at tight end last season. He’s also a first-team all-conference basketball star.
