Alex Cobb placed on injured list with fractured nail; Chase DeLauter promoted to Triple-A

Just as Alex Cobb appeared to be stabilizing the Guardians rotation, the team now will be without him for a bit.

Cobb has been placed on the injured list with a fractured nail on his pitching hand, according to the team. In two starts since being acquired from the San Francisco Giants , he had allowed five earned runs and struck out four in 10⅓ innings.

Anthony Gose has been recalled from Triple-A Columbus to take Cobb's spot on the roster, at least in the short run. Sam Hentges (shoulder inflammation) has been transferred to the 60-day injured list.

Chase DeLauter promoted to Triple-A Columbus

Chase DeLauter's climb up the Guardians minor league ladder has now reached Columbus.

DeLauter, who is set to be promoted to Triple-A Tuesday, has hit a combined .252 with a .782 OPS in the minor leagues this season, most of it with the RubberDucks.

A 2022 first-round pick who had a red-hot spring that opened some eyes , DeLauter is the No. 2-ranked prospect in the system, behind only recent No. 1 overall selection Travis Bazzana .
