Attorneys from two high-profile Akron-area law firms will join forces this fall in a move that each says is designed to enhance their ability to deliver legal expertise in Northeast Ohio and beyond.

On Oct. 1, 43 of Brouse McDowell 's attorneys will become part of Roetzel & Andress , according to a news release from Roetzel & Andress.

Akron attorneys who are employed by Brouse McDowell will move from a suite in the AES Building at 388 S. Main St. to the Roetzel & Andress Akron offices at 222 S. Main St., Suite 400, according to a Brouse McDowell email to clients that was provided to the Beacon Journal on Wednesday.

“We are thrilled to welcome the Brouse McDowell attorneys to our team," Robert E. Blackham, chairman of Roetzel & Andress, said in a prepared statement. "This expansion represents a significant step forward in our strategic growth plan, enhancing our ability to serve clients with even greater expertise and resources. Our combined firm will be uniquely positioned to provide comprehensive legal solutions across multiple practice areas.”

Roetzel & Andress will also add Brouse McDowell's Youngstown and Sharon, Pennsylvania, offices to its network, according to the news release from Roetzel & Andress.

Brouse McDowell's clients will work with the same legal team that they have been and will have "a host of added resources to service (their) business and personal needs," according to the Brouse McDowell client email, signed by Brouse McDowell Managing Partner Daniel K. Glessner.

“While looking for a strategic partner, we were focused on finding a firm with a similar culture, a shared focus on client service, and a true commitment for the communities we serve,” Glessner said in a prepared statement included in the Roetzel & Andress release. “We could not have found a better fit than Roetzel.”

"We will expand our services with offices throughout Ohio in Columbus, Cincinnati, Toledo, and Wooster, and beyond with offices in Naples, Fort Myers and Winter Park, Florida, and Chicago. We will continue to have our current offices in Cleveland, Youngstown, and Sharon, Pennsylvania," Brouse McDowell's announcement said.

The move brings the Roetzel & Andress attorney roster to 220, according to the email.

"Roetzel has great strength in health care, employment, ERISA, insurance defense, tax, public law, estate planning and administration, bankruptcy and restructuring, business succession planning, corporate, transactional work, real estate, construction law, banking law and business litigation," the email said.

Additionally, the email from Brouse McDowell said "both firms share a similar client-centered culture and will offer exceptional service at a great value to clients delivering the personal touch of a small firm with the multidisciplinary capabilities of a large firm."

Financial terms of the deal were not available Wednesday.
