    New voters share experiences, ask questions: Here's our hub for all things first-timers

    With the presidential election in full swing, the Beacon Journal is putting the spotlight on first-time voters.

    Throughout the election season, we'll be following and documenting the experiences of six people with Summit County ties as they navigate participating in their first presidential election.

    We'll also be sharing resources along the way for other first-time voters to use, from a breakdown of key election dates to a running Q&A answering readers' questions about voting.

    From a brand-new citizen to just inspired at 49, here are the first-time voters we'll be keeping tabs on to document their experiences and see if their views change.

    These six men and women have different political views.

    They are of different races, backgrounds and ages, ranging from 18 to 49.

    Some know who’ll get their vote for president , while a few haven’t yet decided.

    “I think it’s like a movie,” said Olori Manns, 49, of Akron, who’ll be voting for the first time in the Nov. 5 election. “You can’t afford not to stay tuned and see what happens next.”

    Students who attend orientation at the University of Akron this summer can learn about esports, bands, housing, and now, registering to vote .

    “I feel amazing!” Zyoniah Crenshaw, who is about to turn 18, said after completing her registration form. “I just feel like it’s amazing to be able to vote at this age. It makes me feel like I’m closer to being an adult.”
