Browns QB Deshaun Watson back throwing a day after suffering 'general arm soreness'

Quarterback Deshaun Watson was back as a full participant in practice for the Browns on Thursday, a day after "general arm soreness" forced him to stop throwing.

The Browns went through what would typically be, in a normal Sunday game week, a "Friday practice" on Thursday before they were to depart later that afternoon for Seattle. They will play the Seahawks at 10 p.m. Saturday in their preseason finale.

There remains no update on whether or not Watson will start the game. Browns coach Kevin Stefanski has stated multiple times over the last two weeks "the plan" is for the quarterback to make his first appearance in a game since last Nov. 12 in the preseason finale.

Stefanski said when he spoke after Wednesday's final training camp practice he was not ruling Watson out because of the arm soreness. He did say it was the first time in training camp the quarterback had experienced it, but was dismissive of any long-term concern.

"I'd say general arm soreness but, again, he practiced," Stefanski said Wednesday. "I held him back. He could have gone. He's feeling fine."

Backup quarterback Jameis Winston finished out the practice with the first-team offense. That included most of the 11 on 11 drills against the scout team defense.

Watson, who underwent shoulder surgery last Nov. 21, was a full participant for a large percentage of training camp. The only day he did not throw at all was the Browns' eighth practice on Aug. 2, the team's final day at The Greenbrier in West Virginia.

"I feel really good," Watson said on Aug. 15. "Each and every day is a test to that stamina, to that strength, to the preparation that I put in from the day I got out of surgery. … I mean, everyone has been on the same page, and that's what we've been, we on the right pace, right track. If we wasn't on that process, I wouldn't be throwing every day. So it's been good."
