    Man hospitalized Friday after bicycle struck by semi-truck in Middlebury

    A 27-year-old man was hospitalized Friday morning in Middlebury after his bicycle was struck by a vehicle, according to Akron police.

    Officers responded to reports of a semi-truck striking a bicyclist at the intersection of East Market Street and East Buchtel Avenue just before 8:00 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found the victim on the ground with major injuries. He was transported to nearby Summa Health Akron City Hospital, where he is currently listed in serious condition.

    The semi-truck driver, a 46-year-old male, remained on the scene and answered questions from law enforcement.

    The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
