Labor Day weekend will start out a bit stormy and steamy in Greater Akron.

The National Weather Service says a warm front will cross northern Ohio Friday bringing with it highs in the 90s and some humid conditions making it feel more like 100 degrees outside.

The front is also expected to spark some showers and even a few severe thunderstorms with a risk for damaging winds.

The storms are expected to develop after 3 p.m. Friday.

The National Weather service says there's a risk of showers continuing on Saturday.

The rain will cool things off a bit by the time Labor Day rolls around.

The showers are expected to clear up by Sunday with sunny skies and highs in the 70s predicted for Labor Day.

Is Greater Akron still in a drought?

The U.S. Drought Monitor says much of Greater Akron is no longer suffering under a drought.

The only exception is much of Medina County and extreme northwest Summit and Wayne counties, which are still considered to be "abnormally dry" with some minor drought impacts on crops and ponds.

About 75% of Ohio is considered to be impacted by some drought conditions with southern counties, including Athens and Meigs counties, experiencing extreme drought conditions.
