Early season bragging rights are were on the line when perennial power Perrysburg traveled to Kisner Field Saturday at noon to face reigning state champion Walsh Jesuit .
The two played a solid first half and an even more spirited second half before the Warriors prevailed 2-0.
Walsh (5-0) scored both its goals in the second half. Reagan Pentz fed Abby Witkiewicz with 34:49 left to put the Yellow Jackets (3-2) down a goal.
Pentz did it again with 10:50 left when she hit Audrey Amsden on a perfect lead pass to make it a two-goal advantage.
Here how the action went down with analysis and highlights from the game.
With the Yellow Jackets forced to press forward, the Warriors won a ball near midfield. Reagan Pentz collected it from about 40 yards out and fed Ciara Santiago in stride. Santiago forced the keeper off her line and then pocketed into the empty net. It's 2-0 Walsh with 10:50 remaining.
The Warriors hold a 5-3 advantage against Perrysburg with corner kicks knotted at three. The Yellow Jackets had the best chance since the one and only goal Walsh Jesuit scored. Perrysburg got Ava DeBolt out of position, but Audrey Amsden got just enough of the shot for it to trickle back to DeBolt to keep the score 1-0 Walsh.
The Warriors got on the board first with a text book goal from Abby Witkiewicz. The sophomore forward collected a pass on the right side from Reagan Pentz. She settled it and beat Tori Trzcinski to the right. It's 1-0 with 34:49 left.
Both teams have had a few opportunities, but have sailed it high or wide each time. Reagan Pentz has the lone shot on frame. It came with 2:41 left, but Yellow Jackets keeper Tori Trzcinski gobbled it up. Each team has a corner kick.
The midfield group from Perrysburg of Grace Lagendonk, Sophie Mitchell and Adyson Brown has been as spectacular as midfielders Sophia Boltuc, Lauren Ziemianski, Hannah Pachan, Reagan Pentz and Audrey Amsden.
There's been a lot of feeling out on both offenses with both teams getting into the scoring third but not being able to capitalize. While there hasn't been a shot on frame, one is imminent. Still scoreless with 19 minutes left before the break.
A cross in to Abby Witkiewicz went just right to give Walsh Jesuit a 1-0 lead. Just two minutes later, Yellow Jackets sensation Emma Ogdahl went just right on an attempt in the upper right 90.

That's what happens when you play a great team that actually knows the game. Perrysburg coach has Zero coaching ability. he just kicks it long and has the fast girls go get it. while the team that actually knows how to plan shuts that rec league play down.
