    Riders take final plunge on Snake River Falls at Cedar Point, say farewell on social media

    Snake River Falls at Cedar Point has taken its final plunge .

    After 31 years, the ride closed forever on Monday. And plenty of fans took to social media to share their final rides or say farewell to the attraction.

    Why did Cedar Point close Snake River Falls?

    Snake River Falls is closing to make way for future expansion, according to a blog post on Cedar Point's website .

    What expansion? Well, Cedar Point is being coy on that detail. "Of course we can't tell you that. Yet," Tony Clark, Cedar Point director of communications, wrote in the post.

    "As with previous attractions that have reached the end of their serviceable life, we honor and respect the past but look forward to future fun for generations to come,” Clark wrote.

    When it opened in 1993, Snake River Falls was the tallest, steepest and fastest flume ride in the world, according to the blog post.
