A 23-year-old Akron man who was killed Friday afternoon after his motorcycle struck another vehicle in North Hill has been identified by the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office as Andrew Jefferys.

Jefferys was traveling west on East Tallmadge Avenue at about 3:20 p.m. while a Volkswagen SUV was going eastbound. The SUV reportedly made a left turn into the parking lot of North CLC after the traffic signal turned green and as the SUV was turning, Jefferys collided with the vehicle.

Jefferys was critically injured as a result of the crash and was transported to Summa Health Akron City Hospital where he was subsequently pronounced dead, police said.

The SUV driver, a 41-year-old woman, was not injured during the incident.

The crash remains under investigation. Police said speed is believed to be a contributing factor to the crash, while alcohol was deemed to not be a factor.
