Akron Police are investigating a Thursday afternoon shooting that left a woman wounded.

Police say around 4:36 p.m. they received calls about a shooting at the Spring Hill Apartments in the 1200 block of Everton Drive.

Callers said two groups of people were exchanging gunfire.

Officers found an 18-year-old woman who suffered an apparent gunshot wound to her leg.

The woman, who name was not released, was taken to Cleveland Clinic Akron GeneralHospital for treatment.

Authorities say several apartments were searched following the shooting and four firearms were recovered.

Dozens of shell casings were found outside and numerous vehicles were struck by bullets.
