Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku to get test on injured ankle

CLEVELAND — David Njoku is scheduled to get tests Monday to determine the extent of the ankle injury the Browns tight end suffered during a season-opening loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

Browns coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed after the game that Njoku will undergo the tests on the ankle. He didn't have any other update on the Pro Bowler's status.

A source confirmed for the Beacon Journal the fear within the organization is that it is a high ankle sprain, saying "It didn't look good." NFL Network's Ian Rapoport was the first to report.

Njoku was one of three Browns to leave Sunday's game with injuries. Both linebacker Mohamoud Diabate (hip flexor) and linebacker Tony Fields II (ankle) will also have tests done Monday.

Njoku gave the Browns offense a boost with a 29-yard catch to the Dallas 27 with just over 11 minutes remaining in the third quarter. However, he was rocked by Cowboys linebacker Eric Kendricks on the catch and went to the Browns sideline after the play.

He went into the medical tent briefly for examination before leaving and going to the locker room.
