After being closed for remodeling since March, the former Cinemark in Macedonia is reopening as Ohio's first B&B Theatres.

B&B Theatres reopened the movie theater at 8161 Macedonia Commons Blvd. on Thursday. The company is leasing the space from Osborne Capital Group.

Upgrades made, according to the company, include heated, electric recliners in every auditorium; a full bar that serves wine, beer, and cocktails, which can be taken anywhere within the building; and a made-to-order food menu, which includes popcorn, hot dogs, nachos, hamburgers, fries, chicken tenders, flatbread pizzas and more.

The theater also will have several additional amenities, including:

    • The company’s own signature Grand Screen premium large format with wall-to-wall curved screens, RealD 3D and high frame rate capabilities, and DTS-X immersive surround sound.
    • ScreenX, a multi-projection immersive cinematic platform, which expands the onscreen action onto the sidewalls of the auditorium.
    • ScreenPLAY!, an in-theater playground and custom preshow, plus 30 minutes of playtime before a family-friendly feature.
    • The Lyric, which is an upscale auditorium with a reduced seat count and high-end finishings that is designed as a rentable venue for private events.

“Our family-owned, privately held company is thrilled to join the Macedonia market," said Bob Bagby, president and CEO of B&B Theatres, in a written statement. "It is a beautiful community that feels like a B&B kind of town. We love what we do and can’t wait to bring the magic of the movies to the area.”

Lance Osborne, president of Osborne Capital Group , said the updated theater is an excellent addition to Macedonia Commons.

“We are pleased to be working with the Bagby Family to bring their state-of-the-art movie theatre experience to Macedonia," Osborne said in a written statement.

B&B Theatres has been family-owned and operated since 1924, when Elmer Bills Sr. first opened a movie house in Salisbury, Missouri. The company is the fifth-largest theater chain in North America and the largest that is privately held, operating more than 550 screens at locations across 15 states.
