Justin Dimengo has returned as Ellet's girls soccer coach after one season away.

Dimengo is in his second year as Ellet's athletic director and his 12th season as the girls soccer coach.

Dimengo , 43, also teaches United States government, United States history and African-American studies at Ellet. From 2012-2022, Dimengo guided Ellet's girls soccer team to a 116-64-6 record and to City Series titles in 2018 , 2019 , 2020 , 2021 and 2022 .

"I am super excited to be back," Dimengo said. "The job opened up and I had a lot of conversations with our building principal, Kim Sabetta, about it. I started to miss it and a lot of the girls were talking to me in the hallways about coming back once they heard that the job was opened up.

"Through a lot of conversation with players, Ellet's administration, and most importantly my wife [Sarah] — I had to get the green light from her that I was allowed to get back into coaching — it felt like this was the right time for me to get back into it."

Jon Tucker was Ellet's coach last season when the program won another City Series championship and finished with a 3-12-2 overall record and a 2-0-0 league mark. Ellet is 1-5 overall this season.

Dimengo is a 1999 Green High School graduate who earned bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Akron. He grew up competing in soccer, wrestling and baseball and lettered in wrestling at Green. He was Green's Senior Class President for the 1998-1999 school year.

"That is exciting for Ellet," Akron Public Schools Athletic Director Joe Vassalotti said. "They had a lot of success in his first stint as head girls soccer coach and, of course, he is also the athletic director and teaches in the high school. He will be busy."
