The Summit County Sheriff's Office is investigating the shooting death of a 19-year-old man in Coventry Township early Sunday. The man has been identified by the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office as Jayvon Jones-Dehart, a native of Orrville.

Deputies responded to reports of a shooting in the 2600 block of South Arlington at about 2 a.m. The shots were heard at the site of an event that was held earlier in the evening, the agency reported. As security for the event was removing an attendee, a security guard fired a shot that struck Jones-Dehart in the chest, according to the sheriff's office.

He was transported to a residence by a friend and then to a Cleveland Clinic Akron General emergency room in Bath. Jones-Dehart was pronounced dead at 2:42 a.m., according to a release from the medical examiner's office.

After a preliminary investigation, the Summit County Sheriff’s Office conducted a search warrant in Wayne County and recovered a vehicle and a handgun there.

Anyone with information regarding the incident should call the Sheriff’s Detective Bureau at 330-643-2181.
