Akronym Public House in Medina set to close Saturday; Akron location will remain open

Another day, another brewery has announced it will soon shut its doors. This time it's Akronym Public House & Pilot Brewery in Medina at 5121 Buehlers Drive.

The last day of service will be Saturday, Sept. 28, according to a Facebook post from the establishment. The downtown Akron location at 58. East Market Street will remain open.

"Our management delivered exactly what we asked of them, our talented culinary team delivered exactly what we asked of them, and our servers and bartenders delivered exactly what we asked of them," the post read. "In the end, there have just been too many obstacles for us to overcome."

The management thanked the public for their support of the Medina location over the years. Gift cards to Public House will continued to be honored at the Akron location for those who are unable to make it to the restaurant before it closes this weekend.

Hundreds of people reacted to Akronym's post, lamenting the fact that another restaurant has to close.

"I hate to keep reading these posts of small businesses closing. They’re becoming more & more frequent," one user wrote.

"This breaks my heart! I love the beer and the food!!" another user said.

"You guys gave so much and tried so hard, and it’s truly disheartening to hear that it didn’t work," a third user noted. "I’m hopeful that folks will take this lesson to heart and think much harder about where and how they spend their money, at independent restaurants and breweries just looking to make amazing products and experiences."

Akronym Public House opens at 11:30 a.m. and closes at 10 p.m.
