Akron's Northside Station won't be very festive this holiday season.

The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad has announced that its North Pole Adventure excursions will not depart from Akron this year.

Instead of Akron, the nighttime train rides that start in early November and run through the holidays will depart from the railroad's Rockside Station in Independence.

The hour and half rides that are filled with activities and songs as the train makes its way through the Cuyahoga Valley National Park to the North Pole in Peninsula are set to begin Nov. 7 and end on Dec. 21.

The excursions that depart at 5 p.m. and 7:55 p.m. nightly sell out well in advance.

Lynee Bixler, the railroad's director of communications, said this is not the first time the excursions have only departed from Independence.

The change, she said, will make the excursion more accessible for guests closer to Cleveland this year and also allow the railroad to make the runs with just one train.

How to get tickets for the North Pole Adventure?

Tickets for the scenic railroad's North Pole Adventure go on sale at 9 a.m. Oct. 1.

Tickets are sold online at cvsr.org .

Prices for the excursion vary depending if you are traveling during the week or on the weekend and which train car you select.

Tickets range from $50 to $97.
