Hurricane Helene may have whisked her way through Florida but it looks like she's going to settle in Ohio for awhile.

The National Weather Service says the remnants of the storm are expected to settle in the Ohio Valley and pretty much stay put through the weekend.

The showers and wind from the storm are expected to arrive in northern Ohio by around 5 p.m. Friday.

This will likely mean a breezy and perhaps wet night for high school football across northern Ohio.

Wind gusts as high as 30 miles per hour are possible on Friday.

    Akron Marathon weather conditions

And for the thousands of runners at Saturday's FirstEnergy Akron Marathon it will likely mean a cloudy and potential wet start to the race.

There is a chance, the National Weather Service says, that an anticipated so-called "dry slot" may settle in Greater Akron just in time for the race.

The uncertainty over the weather has prompted marathon organizers to issue a Yellow/Moderate Weather Alert for the race day.

Marathon officials say they are "closely" monitoring the weather and urges runners to prepare for the potential for rain and a wet course with likely high humidity.

There will be nine Summa Health medical aid stations and 16 hydration stations scattered along the route to assist the runners.

Will it rain all next week?

The hit or miss pesky showers and cloudy skies are expected daily all the way through Wednesday.

The weather service says while the potential for showers will hang around days it is not expected to create any flooding problems in northern Ohio.

The rain may help alleviate some of the drought conditions that have plagued the state − particularly in southern Ohio − throughout the summer.
