CLEVELAND — Jose ramirez has a chance to put together the second ever 40/40/40 season , and his chase for that accomplishment continues Saturday night against the Houston Astros.
Ramirez could become the seventh player with a 40/40 season if he can hit two more home runs within the Guardians' final two games. If he also hits two doubles, he'll join Alfonso Soriano (2006) as the only players with at least 40 homers, 40 steals and 40 doubles in a single year.
In Friday night's loss to the Astros , Ramirez hit two balls to the warning track that went for loud outs.

Astros beat Guardians
The Guardians dropped Saturday's game to the Astros, 4-3, heading into Sunday's regular season finale.
Jose Ramirez has 39 home runs and 39 doubles.
With Ramirez on third as the tying run, Lane Thomas hit a ground ball up the middle. Ramirez took off, but Ryan Pressly snagged it on the mound, and Ramirez was eventually tagged out for the second out of the inning. Thomas ended up on second base.
Andres Gimenez then grounded out to end the inning.
In the bottom of the eighth, with the rain falling a bit harder and Ryan Pressly on the mound, Ramirez hit a double into the right-center gap, his 39th double of the season.
He's now one home run and one double shy of 40 in each category. He's also now the potential tying run on second base with nobody out.
Ramirez had an eventful at-bat before that, fouling a ball off his shin and then accidentally throwing his bat as it slipped out of his hands.
Jose Ramirez gave one a ride, but his third inning at-bat ended with a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring a run but leaving his home run total at 39. His chase for 40/40 continues. He should have 2-3 more at-bats tonight.

Ben Lively is really struggling to find the strike zone, and his defense hasn't helped him, either.
With two runners already on, Lively was called for an auto-ball on a 3-0 count, which loaded the bases. He then walked Jon Singleton to score a run.
With two outs, Zach Dezenzo — who had an RBI single in the first — hit a routine ground ball to shortstop Brayan Rocchio, but his throw to first base was well short, and Kyle Manzardo couldn't scoop it at first, allowing two more runs to score, giving the Astros a 4-2 lead.
Lively is at 58 pitches after only two innings.

In the bottom of the first inning, facing Justin Verlander, Ramirez drilled a two-run shot over the wall in right field for home run No. 39 for his season. He just needs one more, and if he adds two doubles, he'd have a 40-40-40 season.
Astros take early lead against Guardians
The Astros took a 1-0 lead in the first inning against Ben Lively, but it was nearly a much more crooked number.
Already with a run home, the Astros loaded the bases with two outs and Mauricio Dubon up to bat. Dubon drilled a ball down the right-field that sailed just a few feet foul, as he just barely missed a grand slam. He then hit a flyout to right field, ending the inning with only one run on the board.
