CLEVELAND — There are three objectives in Sunday's game for the Guardians .
They are:
- See if Jose Ramirez can hit his 40th home run and 40th double, joining either the 40/40 club and/or the 40/40/40 club
- See how Gavin Williams does pitching out of the bullpen. Nick Sandlin will start the game.
- Hope nobody gets hurt heading into the playoffs.
The Guardians are locked into the No. 2 spot in the American League playoffs, though they still away their potential opponent in the ALDS.
Sunday's game, though, is in danger of being rained out, as both teams are locked into their current seeds (Guardians 2, Astros 3). Rain is in the forecast, and it's only getting worse.

The Guardians-Astros game Sunday has been called after a three-hour delay. MLB determined it wasn't going to be playable.
The Guardians will finish the 2024 season 92-69. Jose Ramirez will finish just short of a 40/40/40 season.
Everyone at the ballpark is still waiting on more information. The rain let up for a bit, but it's now raining harder than it has all day. The forecast isn't great. And when it does stop raining, they'll still need another 30-45 minutes to prepare the field and start play.
Guardians-Astros weather update
It's still raining, and a bit harder than the past two days. Another field assessment could happen some time between 3:45 p.m. ET and 5:00 p.m. ET.
The Guardians have announced they're going to show the Browns game on the scoreboard, which indicates that MLB is determined to get this one in — eventually, if possible.
Sunday's Guardians-Astros game is officially in a rain delay for the time being.
