Summit County Verizon customers may experience some issues with their service on Monday, after tens of thousands of users reported outages earlier in the day.

More than 100,000 service outages have been reported as of 11:30 a.m., according to Downdetector , a site that monitors website outages based on user reports. The number had gone down to 79,887 by 11:51 a.m.

Among the locations with the most outage reports in Ohio as of 11:43 a.m. were in Cincinnati with 1,680 and Columbus with 1,829. Around 11:20 a.m., Columbus had more than 2,300 reported outages.

The exact figures for the Akron area and Summit County were not available.

The most reported problems include issues with cellphones, as well as a lack of signal and iPhones going into SOS mode.

"We are aware of an issue impacting service for some customers," Verizon spokesperson Ilya Hemlin said in a statement. "Our engineers are engaged and we are working quickly to identify and solve the issue."

What is SOS mode on iPhone?

Some Verizon users who reported outages on Downdetector noted how their phones simply display SOS and they aren't able to make calls.

A phone in SOS mode cannot connect to the cellular network and only allows for emergency calls, according to Apple .
