First place in the Suburban League National Conference is on the line Friday when Nordonia travels to Art Wright Stadium in Wadsworth to face the Grizzlies.
Both teams come in undefeated at 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the National Conference. Nordonia has yet to be challenged by conference foes and is coming off a 40-14 win over backyard rival Twinsburg . Wadsworth needed overtime in Week 6 to pull out a 21-14 win over Hudson at home.

Wadsworth pulls out the win in one of the games of the year in Greater Akron.
Nordonia scored first in overtime as Liam Kountz ran in a 8-yard TD run. However, Wadsworth was able to block the extra point.
When Wadsworth got possession in overtime, Brysen Hall hit Calix Lemp in the end zone with a 17-yard TD pass. Jack Dinwiddie then hit the extra point to win it for Wadsworth 37-37.
Wadsworth-Nordonia football heads to overtime tied at 30-30
For the second straight week, Wadsworth football is headed to overtime.
Nordonia's final drive in regulation got into Wadsworth territory, but a pair of false starts helped stall the drive. Ben Chesser fumbled but recovered the final play of regulation. Nordonia will start overtime with the ball.
Wadsworth has answered again, tying the game with 1:42 left in regulation.
After a 30-yard pass from Bryan Hall to Calix Lemp, Wadsworth saw Hall hit Jacob Earnest with a 27-yard TD pass. Jack Dinwiddie hit the extra point and the game is tied at 30-30.
Nordonia's run game just set up the biggest play of the game.
Ben Chesser pulled a run-option fake and threw a bomb to a wide open Danny Ours, who got behind the defense for a 55-yard TD. Riley Edgehouse hit the extra point, making it 30-23 Nordonia with 4:09 left in the game.
Wadsworth drove the ball into the Nordonia red zone, but Brysen Hall was sacked. Jack Dinwiddie hits a 35-yard field goal from the right hard. The game is tied 23-23 with 8:49 left in regulation.
Like Wadsworth in the first half, Nordonia turned a turnover into points.
Wadsworth quarterback Brysen Hall had the ball ripped out of his hands and Nordonia recovered at the Grizzly 29.
That led to Ben Chesser running in his third rushing TD of the night, this time on 7-yard read option play. Riley Edgehouse hit the PAT to make it 23-20 Knights with 5:02 left in the third quarter.
Wadsworth - 108 yards rushing; 75 yards passing. Leaders: Brysen Hall 6-of-14 for 75 yards; Cooper Gray 9 rushes, 92 yards, 2 TDs; Calix Lemp 2 catches, 50 yards. Also, Wadsworth saw Gavin Madigan leave the game in the first quarter with an ankle injury.
Nordonia - 157 yards rushing; 52 yards passing. Leaders: Ben Chesser 7-of-12 for 52 yards. Chesser 11 rushes, 47 yards, 2 TDs; Danny Ours 7 catches, 45 yards.
Nordonia went into two-minute drill to move down the field. A fourth-down conversion set up kicker Riley Edgehouse for a 27-yard FG from the right hash.
Wadsworth takes a 20-16 lead into the half. Nordonia will received the second half kickoff.
Wadsworth didn't take long to answer, thanks to running back Cooper Gray.
Gray broke off a 52-yard sweep down the left sideline to put the Grizzlies in business. Gray then completed the drive with a 4-yard TD and double pass gave Wadsworth the 2-point conversion to make it 20-13 with 1:59 left in the first half.
Hook-and-lateral helps Nordonia football take lead vs. Wadsworth
Nordonia reached into its bag of tricks to answer the Wadsworth touchdown.
Ben Chesser hit Danny Ours on a 5-yard curl route, who then lateralled to Kylan Osbey. The hook-and-ladder play went for 30 yards, setting up the Knights in Wadsworth territory.
Chesser would cap the drive with his second rushing TD, plunging in from 2 yards out on the quarterback sneak. Riley Edgehouse hits the PAT to make it 13-12 with 3:42 left in the first half.
After the touchdown, Nordonia executed an onside kick, as kicker Riley Edgehouse fell on the ball. However, on the next play, Wadsworth's Zach Wise stole ball out of the runner's hands and returned the fumble down to the Nordonia 2.
Cooper Gray took a sweep left 2 yards for the TD on the next play. However, Wadsworth's two-point run attempt was stuffed, making it 12-6 Grizzies with 8:50 left in the first half.
After sputtering in the first quarter, Nordonia's offense got in gear to open the second quarter.
The 7-play drive culminated with Ben Chesser running in a 27-yard TD run off a sweep. Wadsworth blocked the extra point, keeping it at 6-6 with 9:12 left in the second quarter.
Wadsworth has had all the offense in the first quarter, as Nordonia has gone three-and-out 3 times. Wadsworth opens the second quarter with 2nd and 6 at its own 34.
Wadsworth went to the air to gets offense rolling as Brysen Hall hit Calix Lemp with a 35-yard pass, followed by a conversion on fourth and one.
Zach Wise capped the drive, running from the Wildcat position with a 1-yard TD plunge. Nordonia appeared to get a hand on Jack Dinwiddie's extra point attempt, keeping it at 6-0 Wadsworth with 1:28 left in the first quarter.
The Grizzlies has some success moving the ball on its fist drive, but after Brysen Hall is sacked, Wadsworth is forced to punt. Nordonia goes three-and-out on its first possession. 0-0 with 6:54 left in the first quarter.

Wadsworth's Greg Dennison is in his ninth year with the Grizzlies and has led them to the Suburban League National Conference title last fall. His record at Wadsworth is 64-31 and he led the Grizzlies to the second round of last year's Division I playoffs before a loss to Medina.
Nordonia's Jeff Fox has kept Nordonia near the top of local football for most of his 12-year tenure, though the Knights have not won the Suburban League since 2014, which was the same year they reached the Division II state final. Fox has a record of 94-49 with Nordonia, which lost in the first round of last year's Division II playoffs.
