Casey Myser has been the man for Highland all season long.
On Thursday, however, Myser had the best game of his career and stamped his name on Highland's record books.
Myser ran for 324 yards and 4 TDs vs. Revere at North Gateway Tire Stadium. Those four scores gave him 29 total TDs in 2024, breaking the single-season TD record set by Jake Rogers in 2018.
Myser's night combined with Highland defense's third shutout of the season to give the Hornets (8-0, 5-0) a 41-0 win over Revere (5-3, 2-3).
"All week, my coaches were telling me I was four touchdowns away from our school record. That was motivation for me all week," Myser said. "All my linemen knew, so they really wanted me to get it. They really were blocking well."
"He's a special talent and a special player," said Highland coach Mike Gibbons. "Obviously, our offensive line and our receivers blocked really well tonight. Defensively, we were outstanding all night long."
It wasn't a perfect night for Highland, as Revere put up stiff resistance early. However, Highland was able to wear down the Minutemen to set up Myser's big night.
"I told the kids 'It's not always going to be easy,'" Gibbons said. "You're going going to clock everyone at halftime. That's not normal. I think [Revere] is very solid. I thought it might be a tough sled in there."
Myser announced his intention with a 61-yard TD run on the opening drive, but Highland struggled on its next two drives.
Quarterback Dylan Borla used Myser as a decoy in the second quarter. His play-action pass left Nick Dobkowski wide open for a 19-yard TD passes.
Myser sandwiched big TD runs around halftime, running in a 31-yard sweep in the second quarter and a busting an 80-yard TD up the gut in the third.
Myser's record-breaking touchdown came on a 1-yard plunge with 4:24 left in the third quarter to engage the running clock. Highland's reserves got in on the fun late, as Dylan Lazar ran in an 8-yard TD in the final minute.
Aside from its first drive, Revere's offense was stuck in neutral all night. Minuteman quarterback Luke Farris went 6-of-14 for 48 yards, while Revere ran for only 25 yards.
Highland is cruising towards its eighth straight win, leading 34-0 over three quarters. Revere has first and 10 at its own 41 to start the fourth quareter.
Casey Myser's big night continues. The Highland running back plunged into the end zone from a yard out to score TD No. 4 on the night. Myser has 324 yards and 4 TDs.
Chris Metzger hits his second PAT to make it 34-0 with 4:24 left in the third quarter, which will invoke the running clock rule.
Chalk up another big run for Highland's Casey Myser. Myser ran up the middle, shook off a tackle and galloped 80 yards for his third TD run of the night. He has 284 yards rushing tonight. Chris Metzger hits the PAT for Highland to make it 27-0 with 9:29 left in the third quarter.
Myser took a sweep left and ran down the sideline for a 47-yard TD run. The 2-point conversion pass falls incomplete, but Highland moves it lead to 20-0 with 31 seconds left in the first half.
Highland remains in control with a 20-0 lead at halftime. Revere will receive the second half kickoff.
The Highland offense shows it is not just a running unit. Quarterback Dylan Borla worked a nice play-action pass over the middle to Nick Dobkowski for a 19-yard TD. Borla then hit Dobowski with a 2-point conversion pass to make it 14-0 Hornets with 8 minutes left in the second quarter.
Revere was able to move the ball in the first quarter, but did not threaten to score. The Minutemen punted on the final play of the first quarter and Highland's Nick Dobkowski returns it to the Revere 47. Highland will start the second quarter there.
Running back Casey Myser broke loose for a 61-yard TD run up the left sideline. That run put Myser over the 1,000-yard mark for the season. Dylan Borla's pass on the 2-point conversion attempt is incomplete, but Highland has the lead 6-0 with 10:58 left in the first quarter.
