    Former Summit County deputy charged with stealing thousands in overtime pay

    A former Summit County deputy is facing a dozen charges for allegedly stealing thousands of dollars in overtime pay from the sheriff's office.

    A grand jury indicted Marcello Thomas with theft in office, a third-degree felony; attempted theft in office, a fourth-degree felony; and 10 counts of tampering with records, third-degree felonies, according to court records.

    Thomas is charged with stealing $21,157.23 for 380 hours of overtime, forging signatures and attempting to steal another $7,846 in overtime pay, Cleveland19 reported .

    He is scheduled to appear for his second pretrial hearing at 10 a.m. on Nov. 5 in Summit County Common Pleas Court Judge Kelly McLaughlin's courtroom. He is represented by attorney Christina Londrico.
