Election Day is almost here. Do you know who you're voting for yet?

If you're still trying to decide, the Beacon Journal editorial board, made up of three editors and five citizen members, has published several items this election season stating its take on various candidates and issues.

Here's everything the editorial board has endorsed or given analysis on, all in one place.

Beacon Journal editorial board announces endorsements

The Beacon Journal is upholding its tradition in helping guide readers as they decide who will earn their vote.

So, how do we decide who to endorse? The Beacon Journal editorial board has spent time sitting down with candidates to hear about their vision and priorities.

Endorsement: Elliot Kolkovich has earned his place as Summit County prosecutor

When Sherri Bevan Walsh retired in January, she left behind a legacy as the county’s longest-serving prosecutor who prioritized helping victims.

She chose Elliot Kolkovich to continue that work, and in the approximately seven months he’s been in office, he’s already proved to be an effective leader with ambitious ideas.

We want to see where those ideas lead.

Endorsement: Kandy Fatheree is the clear choice for Summit County sheriff

At a time when law enforcement is under intense public scrutiny, it has never been more important for a county sheriff to care for all people — employees, offenders and the public — while upholding the highest standard in office.

These are tasks Summit County Sheriff Kandy Fatheree has managed to balance while remaining innovative and passionate about her position. In her nearly four years with the sheriff’s office, Fatheree has launched several projects and initiated numerous other changes that she wants to see realized.

We think Fatheree, the county’s first female sheriff, deserves the chance to do so.

The differences in Brown vs. Moreno are stark — just look at their stances

Ohio voters this year face a choice between two very different Senate candidates: A seasoned politician with a tempered approach to policy and an affinity for the working class, and a wealthy businessman from Colombia with no political experience.

Here's where Senate candidates Sherrod Brown and Bernie Moreno stand on border security, gun reform, housing and bipartisanship.

The students of Akron Public Schools deserve your support. Vote yes on Issue 27

There’s no denying the students and staff of Akron’s North High need and deserve a new school.

There are only so many Band-Aids the district can put on the deteriorating, 94-year-old building to keep it up and running.

But North isn’t the only cluster in Akron Public Schools that requires more financial support.

It’s been a dozen years since the district asked voters to approve a tax increase.

As APS Chief Diversity Officer Carla Chapman told us, “The last time we asked, our current seniors were walking into kindergarten.”

Endorsement: In Ohio's divided 13th District, Emilia Sykes has better chance to bring unity

The 13th Congressional District in Ohio is one of the few swing areas still left in the state.

And as Republican Kevin Coughlin vies for incumbent Rep. Emilia Sykes’ seat in a heated battle to represent all of Summit County and portions of Stark and Portage counties, it's clear both have strengths they bring to the table.

Our editorial board, much like the district, was split in our endorsement decision. Both candidates shared well thought-out ideas on certain policies that matter to the voters in our district.

But ultimately, despite a split vote, a majority of us on the board believe Sykes is a better fit for the district.
