On Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the city of Akron and Akron Waterways Renewed! are hosting an open house at the Ohio Canal Interceptor Tunnel Diversion Structure at 158 Otto St.

Parking will be available off Otto, North Maple and Hickory streets and the Mustill Store Museum parking lot, 57 W. North St.

This event will take place rain or shine. However, the Tunnel Diversion Structure (TDS) tour will only be conducted in dry weather. Attendees are encouraged to wear suitable footwear for walking and touring the facility.

According to a release from the city, the event offers an opportunity to learn more about OCIT and the ongoing work on the Northside Interceptor Tunnel (NSIT) from the experts who are leading these vital projects.

Representatives from Summit Metro Parks will also be in attendance to provide an in-depth presentation on the removal of the Gorge Dam. Additionally, guests will have the chance to tour the OCIT Diversion Structure, weather permitting.
