The Woodridge boys and girls cross country teams are confident once again heading into a OHSAA Division II district meet Saturday at Lorain County Community College.

The Bulldogs have good reason to be after winning Metro Athletic Conference championships earlier this month. Both Woodridge teams continue to dominate under coach Jeff Howard.

Woodridge's boys team won its 20th consecutive conference championship on Oct. 10 at Silver Creek Metro Park and the Bulldogs girls squad won its ninth league title in a row and 19th in the last 20 years.

Junior Ben LeBay led Woodridge's boys with a first-place finish in a time of 16:10 and was named the MAC Runner of the Year. The Bulldogs won with 23 points, followed by Cloverleaf (65) and Streetsboro (98).

Junior Atticus Sloan (fourth), junior Xavier Griffiths (fifth), sophomore John Brock (sixth) and senior Kendall McAllister (seventh) also scored for the Bulldogs and finished in under 17 minutes. Freshmen Eli White, Remington Griffiths and Frankie Teston were 10th, 12th and 14th, respectively.

Senior Marissa Boone led Woodridge's girls by placing first in a time of 19:08 and was named the MAC Runner of the Year. The Bulldogs won with 19 points, Cloverleaf was second (65) and Field third (72).

Sophomore Lillian Singer (2nd), freshman JaJa Rosario-Stanford (3rd), sophomore Ella Vaughn (6th) and freshman Becky Adame (7th) also scored for the Bulldogs. Sophomore Lola Mullen, sophomore Madison Singer and senior Ruby Wuscher finished ninth, 11th and 12th, respectively.
