CLEVELAND — The Guardians are coming off a wild, stunning, come-from-behind 7-5 win in an instant classic Game 3 of the American League Championship Series.

Jhonkensy Noel and David Fry likely saved the Guardians' playoff lives , hitting two-run home runs in the ninth and 10th innings, respectively. Starter Matthew Boyd was terrific again and is making the case that the Guardians need to re-sign him beyond this season. Lane Thomas, Andres Gimenez and Kyle Manzardo were the unsung heroes.

Instead of going down 3-0, the Guardians enter Friday night's Game 4 in a 2-1 hole and with a chance to even the series.

Check back here for live score updates, highlights and analysis from Game 4 of the American League Championship Series Friday night at Progressive Field.

Guardians, Yankees tied in 8th inning of ALCS Game 4; Score update

Unbelievable. The Guardians have done it again.

Steven Kwan popped out. And with two outs, David Fry hit a weak ground ball to back to the pitcher. Mark Leiter Jr. bobbled it, then finally got back to it as it rolled toward first base. Leiter flipped it to Anthony Rizzo, who somehow couldn't catch it, and it went by him.

Mark Leiter Jr. with a masterful job on the mound to escape that inning with the Yankees still leading.

Jhonkensy Noel, as a pinch-hitter, looked as though he might have done it again, as he drilled a ball to deep left field. Off the bat, it looked like it'd be gone, but it fell just short and went for a very loud, very long flyout.

Giancarlo Stanton hits 3-run home off Cade Smith; Yankees lead Guardians in ALCS Game 4

Giancarlo Stanton with a gut-punch of a home run against the Guardians .

With two runners on, Stanton absolutely drilled a three-run home run to the bleacher seats in left field off Cade Smith, who this October has looked nearly unhittable. That is a massive home run and a back-breaker for the Guardians to see Smith get hit so hard.

Stanton now has home runs off Emmanuel Clase and Cade Smith in back-to-back games, which means he's gone yard off two of the five best relievers in baseball in a span of about 24 hours.

Stanton is currently the hottest hitter on the planet. And the Yankees have a 6-2 lead in Game 4.

    Who's winning Guardians-Yankees ALCS Game 4?

The Yankees turned to their bullpen as well in the fifth inning, bringing in the lefty Tim Hill, who gave up a hit but got through the inning unscathed.

    It's still 3-2 Yankees.

Steven Kwan, who tonight extended his postseason on-base streak to 15 games, singled to left field and then stole second base. That swipe of second was key, as Josh Naylor poked a single into shallow left field to score Kwan and cut the Yankees lead to 3-2 in the bottom of the third inning.

Austin Wells home run extends Yankees lead in ALCS Game 4 vs. Gavin Williams, Guardians

Gavin Williams seemed to settle down after the rough start, but Austin Wells drilled a solo home run to center field in the second inning to end that short, positive run.

It's been a tough outing for Williams already with Soto and Wells both going yard. It's 3-1 Yankees. The Guardians offense is going to have its work cut to try to keep pace.

Aaron Judge followed with a 115-mph groundout, which went for an out, but it isn't a great sign when the first three hitters all have exit velocities of more than 105 mph.

So much for the momentum from last night. Terry Francona used to say momentum in baseball only went as far as the next day's starting pitcher. The Yankees leaned into that in the first inning.
