Bear brawl caught on camera during tequila event at Akron Zoo

AKRON, Ohio (WJW) — The Akron Zoo recently hosted an adults-only, after-hours event called Tequila ‘N Tigers but it was the gr i zzly bears that stole the show.

Tequila-sippers were captivated by a grizzly brawl.

Video of the encounter (which can be viewed above) captured about five minutes of the tussle, showing two bears standing on their hind legs, taking swipes at one another and cornering each other, leaving some to joke that perhaps they’d had a bit too much tequila.

Zoo officials later identified the two bears as Jackson and Cheyenne and said “play wrestling” is almost a daily occurrence between the 13-year-old brother and sister.

“It is also breeding season. Jackson is neutered, but both bears still have hormones and this is a great way to get those feelings worked out. Jackson outweighs Cheyenne by about 250lbs, but she is putting him in his place in this video!” explained a zoo spokesperson.

The two have lived at the Akron Zoo for almost 10 years after being orphaned in Wyoming as young cubs, according to zoo officials. They’re now 13.

Zoo officials also assured us only humans were enjoying the tequila.
