Woman killed in Summit Lake Sunday morning identified

A woman who was killed early Sunday in Summit Lake has been identified by the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office as Paige N. Calich, 24, of Akron.

Officers responded about 12:30 a.m. to reports of a shooting at 14 Socrates Place. Upon arrival, police discovered Calich had a gunshot wound to the torso. She was subsequently transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The unknown suspect reportedly fled the scene on foot following the shooting.

Calich was reportedly in a fight on Saturday, Capt. Michael Miller, public information officer for the Akron police, said. It is unknown whether the shooter had any involvement with this prior argument.

This incident is still under investigation.
