Downtown is a shell of a once vibrant, thriving area... one Family dollar and The McWane Center... closest supermarket is Publix at Midtown... my roommate was walking to the Max bus station to ride to work. Someone cracked his head with a piece of rebar and robbed him... 12 staples to close his wound.. Another roommate was robbed and beaten on 4th Avenue... good luck with the safety aspect of Downtown Birmingham!!!
