Alabama motorcyclist thrown from Harley Davidson, killed early Tuesday

An Alabama motorcyclist was killed early Tuesday when his Harley Davidson motorcycle left the road, flipped over and ejected the man, state troopers said.

The single-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 4:50 a.m. Tuesday, and claimed the life of a Bankston, Alabama, man.

Walter D. Watkins Jr., 52, was fatally injured when the 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle he was operating left the roadway and overturned.

Watkins Jr. was thrown from the motorcycle and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The crash occurred on Alabama 13 near U.S. 278, less than one mile west of Lynn, in Winston County.

There was also an accident this morning at about 5:20 am on HWY 157 about 2 miles from the 65 ramp in Cullman. I was headed into Cullman and was caught in the traffic. I saw a helicopter leaving the scene just before they reopened the lanes on both sides of the road. When I drove by all I saw was a mangled motorcycle with saddle bags.
