Press release from Florida Department of Transportation

UPDATE: After we sent readers’ comments to FDOT, a spokesman responded, “Although the railroad closure itself is accurately portrayed on the map, the detour is indeed incorrect. Motorists will cross U.S. 301 via the overpass, turn left (essentially making a U-turn) on NE SR 26 to carry on to their destination.”

WALDO, Fla. – During the week of Aug. 19, the CSX railroad crossing on NE State Road 26 adjacent to U.S. 301 will be closed for reconstruction. Construction will begin at 5 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 19, and is expected to continue through the week. The road is scheduled to reopen at 5 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 26, weather and unforeseen circumstances permitting.

During the closure, drivers on westbound NE State Road 26 will take U.S. 301 south to State Road 26 west to access NE State Road 26. Drivers on eastbound State Road 26 wanting to access NE State Road 26 east of the railroad crossing may continue on State Road 26 to U.S. 301 north or continue on State Road 26.

how the hell are they supposed to get onto 301 South from westbound 26 when they have to cross the railroad tracks to get there. the 26 they are showing on the map is a bypass that crosses over the railroad tracks and 301, and where the work is supposed to take place is the exit Rd or the old 26, which wouldn't affect normal westbound traffic. this is some piss poor planning by the State when they're the ones that designed the bypass🤦
