    Press release from Alachua County

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – On Aug. 28, the Florida Division of Emergency Management notified Alachua County Emergency Management that residents and business owners impacted by Hurricane Debby are now eligible for financial assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).

“I am thankful that FEMA, the SBA, and the Florida Division of Emergency Management recognized the unmet needs in our community and have made the determination that our residents are eligible for assistance,” said Emergency Management Director Jen Grice. “I encourage all our residents who have been impacted by Hurricane Debby to apply for this assistance. Additionally, thank you to the Alachua County residents and businesses who submitted their damages to our damage reporting portal. That information was a critical first step in getting this assistance for our community.”

If you or someone you know experienced a financial loss or home damage as a direct result of Hurricane Debby, please visit the FEMA disaster assistance page at https://www.disasterassistance.gov/ or call 1-800-621-3362. Multilingual operators are available for those who call. For businesses that need assistance, visit the SBA page at https://lending.sba.gov/ .

PLEASE NOTE: All financial assistance and programs are provided by the Federal Government through various organizations. Alachua County Government or the municipalities of Alachua County can’t approve or deny any assistance from FEMA or the SBA, nor can we check the status of your assistance application. All inquiries about assistance must go through FEMA or the SBA.
