Major Update in Unsolved 2017 Cold Case Murder of Florida Woman
Over seven years later, Florida officials identified three suspects allegedly involved in the tragic murder of Christin Cassels. The Alachua Sheriff's Office identified the suspects in a Facebook post on Thursday. Keneth Altidor was arrested in Fort Lauderdale on July 15. Officials arrested Blake Jackson in Hollywood the following day. The Broward County Sheriff's Office assisted in the arrests.

A sedan serving to avoid a box that fell off a pickup left I-75 north of Gainesville and collided with a tree Saturday morning. According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, a 25-year-old Gainesville man driving a sedan was driving north on I-75 near mile marker 390 at 10:24 a.m. when he swerved to avoid a large box containing an AC coil that fell off a pickup driven by 57-year-old Gainesville man.
Gainesville organization welcomes refugee families amid concerns from residents
Two refugee families arrived in Alachua County thanks to the efforts of a local nonprofit organization. The Greater Gainesville International Center received a second refugee family Wednesday — from Guatemala — as part of a collaboration with the International Rescue Committee, according to a Tuesday newsletter. The center received the first refugee family — from Afghanistan — July 8 as part of the remote placement program through the aid organization. Another family, also from Guatemala, will arrive in August, according to Lauren Poe, the center’s president.
