PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — There is a Flood Watch in effect until 12 am Saturday for Alamance, Chatham, Guilford, Montgomery, and Randolph counties.

A low along the GA/SC line is going to pump showers and thunderstorms across the Piedmont today.

Some storms may produce heavy rain and the possibility of flooding or flash flooding.  Thunderstorms are most likely from the morning commute to the early afternoon, then we’ll see scattered showers for the rest of the day.

Highs are expected to top out near 80° this afternoon.

Overnight, showers end and there will be some gradual clearing.  Lows will be in the lower-70’s.

We begin to heat up again this weekend, as highs return to the lower-90’s Saturday, and mid-90’s Sunday.

There isn’t much rain in the forecast to help quell the heat… Just a 20% chance on Saturday. Otherwise, the weekend will stay partly to mostly sunny.

As the new work week begins, get ready for incredibly hot weather.  Highs are going to be in the mid- to upper-90s Monday and Tuesday with mostly sunny skies.

An approaching cold front keeps highs in the mid-90s Wednesday with a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms.  More thunderstorms are on the way for Thursday as the front arrives, and temperatures will cool down to the upper-80s.
