A shocking incident occurred during a youth basketball game in Northern California, where a 13-year-old player stomped on the head of an opponent, prompting a police investigation and widespread condemnation. The disturbing event took place during a game between Tumakbo United Basketball team, a non-profit club for Filipino youth, and Payton's Place at the College of Alameda.

The victim, Seth Guingab, suffered injuries to the side of his face and is experiencing headaches, believed to be symptoms of a concussion. His parents, Eva and Rodrick Guingab, expressed their horror and disbelief over the incident, detailing how their son was attacked while down on the floor. Eva emotionally described the severity of the situation, noting that the impact of the assailant's shoe was clearly visible on Seth's face.

Footage from the game showed Guingab engaging in a play for the ball when he fell to the ground. An opposing player then intervened and violently stomped on his head. The attacker, also 13 years old, was immediately escorted out of the game and the building. The young player claimed he was defending his teammate, leading to further scrutiny from law enforcement.

In response to the backlash, Payton's Place issued a statement condemning the violence and noting that the player involved is seeking help to control his emotions and is not currently participating with the team. They stressed that the behavior witnessed was not reflective of their values and committed to working with Tumakbo United to resolve the matter.

The incident has sparked a broader conversation about violence in youth sports and the need for stringent measures to ensure the safety and well-being of young athletes. The police investigation is ongoing, and it will be up to the Alameda County District Attorney to decide if any legal action should be taken.

This episode serves as a stark reminder of the importance of maintaining a safe and respectful environment in sports, particularly for young players who are still learning the values of teamwork, discipline, and fair play. The basketball community and the families involved hope that this incident will lead to positive changes and prevent such occurrences in the future.
