Residents of a San Francisco neighborhood known as one of the hottest real estate spots for tech executives are not thrilled about the latest abode under construction. The cube-shaped mansion at 801 Sanchez St. sits on a hilltop in picturesque Dolores Heights, and its stark, geometric design has upset residents who say it doesn’t fit in with the character of the neighborhood, where narrow, shingled cottages and Victorians are rubbing shoulders with the nouveau-riche dwellings.

Community Celebrates Historic Oakland Billboard Agreements — We, the Oakland Billboard Economic Development Coalition, which includes Oakland’s six leading community health clinics, all ethnic chambers of commerce, and top community-based economic development organizations – celebrate the historic billboard agreements approved last year by the Oakland City Council. We have fought for this opportunity against the billboard monopoly, against Clear Channel, for five years. The agreements approved by Council set the bar for community benefits – nearly $70 Million over their lifetime, more than 23 times the total paid by all previous Clear Channel relocation agreements in Oakland combined.

Electriq Power’s Inventory Auctioned Off for $4.9M
In the unfolding bankruptcy of Electriq Power Inc., a company that put solar panels on Santa Barbara rooftops for free, a sale of the company’s inventory stored in a San Leandro warehouse netted $4.9 million, excluding litigation claims, bankruptcy trustee Robert Furr said in an email this week. The sale represents about 7 cents on the dollar given that the original bankruptcy filing on May 3 indicated Electriq’s creditors were owed about $70 million.

An endangered young female red panda named Little Mebo has been welcomed to the San Francisco Zoo & Gardens, officials said Friday. 52-Year-Old Man Dies After Striking Cement Pillar on Jackson Street in Hayward
Last Friday, a single-vehicle collision tragically culminated in the death of a 52-year-old man at the intersection of Jackson Street, east of Diadon Drive in Hayward. According to the Hayward Police Department, the man was driving eastbound on Jackson Street around 1:40 p.m. when his vehicle veered off the road and struck a cement pillar. Arriving officers found the driver with major injuries still at the scene.
