Residents who live near the Creek Fire in Alameda County who were ordered to evacuate this weekend were able to return to their homes 5 p.m. Monday, though they remained under an evacuation warning, according to the county.

As of 4:45 p.m. Monday, the Creek Fire in the Sunol Wilderness Regional Preserve was 35% contained at 744 acres, according to Cal Fire.

The Creek Fire began on Friday evening north of the Calaveras Reservoir near Welch Creek Road and Calaveras Road in Sunol.

An evacuation order for Zone ALC-E127, Welch Creek Rd, Sunol, CA, 94586, had been issued but has now been reduced to a warning.

As of Monday night, the area of Calaveras Road will only be accessible to response agencies and residents, the county said.
